Description
Aroma // Sweet honeysuckle, quince, and almond pastry.
Palate // Creamy and full bodied with flavours of peach, nutmeg and pear tart. Concentration of fruit shows through with a supple underlying structure that leaves the wine fresh and vibrant on the finish. Medium/Dry style.
Cellaring // Pinot Gris from our vineyards responds well to warmer seasons, and this wine is likely to age gracefully past 2023.
Winemaking
Hand harvested over 5 separate picks, the juice was gently whole bunch pressed and fermented in a mix of old oak vessels and stainless-steel tanks. Blending took place in October once fermentation was complete.
Vineyard
The 2018 growing season was one out of the box, and recorded as the warmest growing season Spy Valley has yet experienced. A very dry Spring and Summer led through to an Autumn with frequent rainfall and warm conditions. Our Pinot Gris showed its mettle with lush flavours and clean ripe fruit.
