This wine is probably older than that awful wallpaper your Nan has plastered up in her house. It was first produced at the end of World War II and its popularity grew in the 50’s and 60’s. By the time the 80’s rolled around this retro Portuguese juggernaut accounted for 40% of Portugal’s wine exports.
Light, fruity pink stuff that’s also a tad lower in alcohol at 11%.
This wine was amongst the brands said to be stockpiled in the vaults of Saddam Hussein’s palaces. Never mind weapons of mass destruction, it was wines of mass production!
