The wine: A unique wine less commonly seen on Central Otago and New Zealand vineyards. Lime, frangipani, pawpaw and cantaloupe aromatics on the nose lead to a lithe textural wine showing great flow, poise and depth.
The story: “Bruce” is named after Chris’s dad who died in 2022. He actually died on the 12 May 2022 which is Chris’s birthday. He was 95 and was a tall, strong, hard working man who wasn’t afraid to say what he thought. Bruce was very unique just like our Sauvignon Gris.
The winemaker: Our Sauvignon winemaker is Central Otago legend Dean Shaw. Dean has been making wine with grapes from more than a dozen different vineyards for 18 years, which probably makes him one of the most experienced winemakers in the Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes areas. He started his education in New Zealand before traveling to France where he studied winemaking in Burgundy, Austria and South Africa, and has worked with a number of Central Otago and Queenstown wineries.
The ideal pairing: Our Bruce Sauvignon Gris goes beautifully with all types of fish, shellfish and cheese.
