Corbieres as a region is one of the gems of southern France, but a lot of wines come out of this large area, and not all of it is great, which means that when you find a good one, you pay attention.
This little number is a stonkingly good example of Corbieres.
A blend of the classic red grapes of the region—especially Carignan—this wine is made from old vines and is aged in steel tanks rather than oak.
The result is concentrated, berry-forward and lush, with soft spice around the edges and a drink-me-again sort of freshness that elevates every mouthful.
Good luck if you can save any of this for dinner.
