Angostura bitters is a concentrated bitters, or botanically infused alcoholic mixture, made of water, 44.7% alcohol, herbs and spices, by House of Angostura in Trinidad and Tobago.
It is typically used for flavouring beverages, or food.
For something a bit different, try it in the Angostura Daiquiri cocktail:
Angostura Daiquiri
- 6 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters
- 60ml Rum
- 30ml Lime Juice
- 30ml sugar syrup
- Rosemary
To make the sugar syrup, mix 1 cup sugar with 1 cup boiling water until the sugar has dissolved. Let the sugar syrup cool before using.
Pour the rum, bitters, sugar syrup and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Shake until combined, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
